Great Circle

The work Great Circle refers to the importance of the circular and spherical shape as a fundamental form with regard to measuring and describing the earth’s figure. In doing so, it makes reference to spherical geometry, which is closely linked to astronomy and cartography. The title Great Circle alludes to the mathematical concept of the great circle, defined as the largest possible circle on a spherical surface whose center always coincides with the center of its sphere.
